Nour began his career in the oil markets in 1988 on Merrill Lynch’s energy trading desk in London. In 1993, Nour joined ICAP’s oil brokerage team, where he developed the oil options market, then in its infancy. By 1995, Nour was running the crude swaps and options team at ICAP. In 2013, Nour co-founded Venture Commodities. Nour holds a BA in Business Administration from Richmond University.
Denis Labatut, Co-Founder and Managing Partner
Denis began his career as an equity index broker in 1992 at Sécurité Futures in Paris. In 1995, Denis joined Finaccor as a bond broker, a role he continued with at ICAP in 2001, before moving to the oil options desk from 2005 until 2013. In 2013, Denis co-founded Venture Commodities with Nour. Denis holds a Maitrise des Sciences de gestion from Paris IX Dauphine, and a D.E.S.S. finance Paris II.
Upon acquiring his 1st Class MSci in Mathematics from London University in 2004, Ben quickly embarked on a career within Derivatives Trading at Mako Global Derivatives. After joining Mako’s Oil Trading Desk, Ben spent a year making markets in London before moving to New York in 2008. In 2011 Ben was hired to set up a new energy trading venture for Liquid Capital and ran their electronic and OTC platform in Chicago until 2015. After moving back to England, Ben chose to utilise his market and options knowledge by joining Nour and Denis at Venture Commodities Partners.
Paul Baudry, Head of Agricultural Derivatives
Paul began his career in the French grains market in 2008 at Plantureux in Paris. In 2010 Paul joined ICAP in London to develop their European grains business and he took the opportunity to gain experience in the US grains and softs markets. He expanded upon his global knowledge with Tradition from 2015 to the end of 2016. In 2017 Paul chose to join Nour and Denis to embark upon a new challenge, creating the Agricultural desk and providing a one stop shop. Paul holds a Master of Science in Finance from Rouen Business school.
