What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website can save on your computer or phone. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, are covered by this policy too.
Strictly necessary storage
These are needed for the site to respect your choices, so we do not ask for consent for them. Neither is sent to us. The site and its hosting set no other cookies.
Counting visits without cookies
We use Plausible Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. Plausible sets no cookies and stores no identifier on your device. It processes the page you visit, the site that referred you, your browser, device type and country. It uses your IP address only to work out your country and a daily-rotating pseudonymous count of visitors; Plausible itself does not store your IP address. It runs on our web provider’s server in the UK, not with an advertising company. Because it uses no cookies, we run it without asking, and you can switch it off for your browser here:

Analytics cookies, only if you agree
If you choose “I agree”, we also use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, which set the cookies below. If you choose “Only essentials” or close the bar, neither is loaded.
Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used, such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, with all text on the page masked. Google and Microsoft may also set cookies on their own domains under their own policies; Microsoft documents third-party cookies for Clarity. We do not use advertising cookies.
Cloudflare, Google and Microsoft may process this data outside the UK, including in the US.
Changing your mind
Use to see the choice again. If you choose “Only essentials” or close the bar after agreeing, we delete the Google Analytics and Clarity cookies on this site, tell both tools that consent is withdrawn, and reload the page so nothing further is sent. We ask again after 12 months, or sooner if we add a tool or a purpose.
Our website and your data
Like any website, our hosting providers (Cloudflare, and our web provider Macrohat) process your IP address and browser details to deliver and protect the site, without cookies. The logs of Macrohat’s reverse proxy, which sits in front of both the website and the Plausible server, are kept for about five weeks.
Who is responsible
Venture Commodities Partners LLP is responsible for this data (the controller). Macrohat Ltd runs the website and Plausible for us. Google and Microsoft provide Google Analytics and Clarity. Analytics cookies rely on your consent.
How long data is kept
Google Analytics detailed data: 14 months. Clarity recordings: 30 days, with a random sample kept up to 9 months; Clarity heatmaps: up to 9 months. Plausible statistics: until deleted. Server logs: about five weeks.
